We are interested in building a socially and environmentally responsible, “value-driven” business community to embrace and enhance the ancient tradition of knitting and the artistic development of textiles.

Essence Studio was established as a laboratory to provide knitwear and textiles design development and creation to leading fashion companies in New York City. While intensely involved with the high fashion industry, we discovered the urge to break through and make changes to the conventional way of manufacturing and the use of materials.

We are passionate about the colours, textures and culture of global heritage. While working with artisans in the world's indigenous communities, we are helping them to preserve their arts and benefit their economies.
Initial project have begun with Bolivia, India, and China.

Materials we use are surplus yarns from mills, natural fibers, cashmere, and certified organic cotton. We are also exploring and developing environmentally friendly natural dye processes.

We support and promote the “Ahimsa silk” weave of peace textiles from SEVYA, a non-profit organization and a member of the Fair Trade Federation, established to preserve the vibrant tradition of hand-woven textiles in India by using a “non-violent” and natural method of spinning silk fibers.

We aim for change and to support an ecologically sustainable world.
